Madonna's Rep Slams Divorce, A-Rod Rumors

People Says Singer, Ritchie Spotted Holding Hands

A report by a British newspaper about Madonna visiting a prominent divorce attorney appears to be all about nothing -- for now. And another report linking the pop singer and New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez have surfaced.

According to People magazine, Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, were spotted leaving an Italian restaurant in New York City Tuesday night holding hands.

The public appearance together comes on the heels of a statement issued by Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, that slams speculation that the singer and filmmaker's marriage is in trouble.

"Madonna's husband Guy arrived in New York (Monday) night to be with his wife and family, not in a last-ditch attempt to save his marriage which does not need saving," Rosenberg told People. "There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce."

The Times of London last week reported that Madonna recently visited with Fiona Shackleton, a high-powered British attorney who represented Paul McCartney and Prince Charles in their divorce cases.

Rosenberg also responded to reports that suggested Rodriguez was seeing Madonna, saying the two were only friends.

According to US Weekly, Rodriguez, 32, visited the 49-year-old singer in her New York apartment shortly after his wife gave birth to the couple's second daughter.

"Madonna and Alex have the same manager, Guy Oseary," Rosenberg told People. "They have met. They know each other and Madonna took her kids to a Yankees game last week. There's really not anything to comment on beyond that."

Madonna and Ritchie -- who directed the crime comedies "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" -- married in 2000.

The Times estimated Madonna's fortune at $600 million.
